After joining the Army Medical Corps in 1971, Brig. (Dr) BM Nagpal served in various hospitals in the field and in urban areas.
He is an MS from the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune, and eventually went to become Professor and HOD (Surgery) of the premier institution.
During his tenure in the forces, his paper on “War Wounds – Changing Concepts”, won the best paper award from the Medical Journal Armed Forces India, 2002. He also received the Chief of Army Staff Commendation for providing exemplary service in disaster management, and the Vishist Seva Medal for meritorious service for managing large number of battle casualties during the peak of militancy.
He has been associated with various professional bodies like the Association of Surgeons of India, Pune Surgical Society, and was also the Secretary of the Association of Armed Forces Surgeons of India.
