Manipal College of Medical Sciences

The Manipal College of Medical Sciences (MCOMS) was established in 1994 at Pokhara, Nepal, following an agreement between the Manipal Group and the Government of Nepal. In 1998, the 900-bed Manipal Teaching Hospital was set up with the mission of being an excellent learning centre and providing quality and affordable healthcare to people. The college and hospital have been set up with modern facilities for medical education and healthcare. MCOMS offers MBBS and PG courses in Basic Sciences and Clinical subjects.

Affiliated to the University of Kathmandu, the college is:

  • Recognised by the Medical Councils of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Mauritius
  • Recognised by the California Medical Board and New York State Medical Board
  • Listed in the 7th edition of the WHO’s World Directory of Accredited Medical Schools
  • Listed in the International Medical Education Directory of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) which holds the United States Medical Licensing Exam
  • Recognised by the British Columbia & Ontario Student Assistance Program (BCSAP & OSAP), Canada

Besides students from Nepal, MCOMS gets a large number of students from India and Sri Lanka, as well as some from the US, Canada, South Africa, Bangladesh and other countries.
